PARC TAULÍ EMERGENCY ROOM, ICU AND SURGICAL BLOCK REFURBISHMENT
Sabadell (Spain)
Parc Taulí Consortium Health Corporation has been carrying out a series of improvements to its facilities. The activities we are carrying out are: the Emergency Room Refurbishment Master Plan on the ground floor of the Taulí Building, which is one of the oldest buildings on the site; the refurbishment and extension of the Intensive Care Unit, located on the first floor, which now has 40 individual Critical Care cubicles; and the refurbishment and extension of the Surgical Block, which now has 16 Operating Theatres, and a Recovery Unit with 21 open cubicles and 2 closed cubicles.
Three courtyards have been created in the Emergency Observation extension area to gain extra metres for the façade and to provide all the rooms with better lighting comfort and privacy, aiming for humanised spaces where the comfort of both the patient and the staff are our priority.
One of the aspects that has driven the design of all these areas has been the strong commitment to humanisation. The three refurbished services (Emergency, Surgical Block and ICU) are services where humanisation makes even more sense due to the state of health and stress of the patients. Light, materials, photographs reminiscent of nature, organic shapes and the maximum integration of equipment are some of the humanisation strategies used.
